On Saturday, May 17, the Riga City Council will participate in Museum night events, offering residents and guests of the city the opportunity to visit the City Hall, inspecting the main premises of the city council – the chamber, the offices of the mayor and vice-mayor and other premises. Visitors will be invited to feel as the mayor and participate in the photo contest – to take a photo with animals of the animated film “Flow” in various places in Riga.
During the night of museums, visitors will have the opportunity to visit the City Council Chamber, Portrait, as well as Fireplace hall, to become acquainted with the wall of residents of the year, to visit the chapel, balcony of the City Council and bee garden, to see the offices of the mayor and vice-mayor.
Museum night visitors will be invited to become the “night Mayor of Museums” for one night, feeling as the mayor, taking pictures at specially designated locations in the City Hall and sharing photos on social networks using the moment tag #musejunaktsmers.
On the other hand, there will be an opportunity to participate in an exciting photo contest – to find and photograph with the characters of the animated film “Flow” – cat, dog, capybara and lemur.
We invite to send photos with the animated film characters to the e-mail: mediji@riga.lv. Those who have taken pictures with all the animals of the animated film will receive prizes, which it will be possible to receive in the foyer of the 1st floor of the Riga City Council.
The European Museum night is an international museum event held in many European countries every spring since 2005. Along with traditional displays, various special events take place – creative workshops, concerts, theatre productions. The event traditionally runs from Saturday night to the early morning hours of Sunday. Entrance to museums during the event is free.
When visiting events and spending evenings in Riga, we invite to travel by night public transport, which will be available until September 28 as part of the pilot project. The bus will be available at night from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday, as well as on public holidays. It will leave Riga Centre for neighbourhoods five times – at 24.00, 1.00, 2.00. 3.00, 4.00. Three bus routes have been created for the convenience of residents of Riga: “Centre – Teika – Jugla – Mežciems”; “Centre – Āgenskalns – Zolitūde – Imanta”; “Centre – Purvciems – Pļavnieki – Dārzciems”. Detailed bus routes and stops are available from the website of SIA "Rīgas satiksme” rigassatiksme.lv and application. Fares and usage arrangements are the same as for daily routes.
