The European Mobility Week, which will take place from 16 to 22 September, invites Rigans to spend time on the move and participate in more than 70 different free physical activities. Inspiring the inhabitants of Riga for a healthy lifestyle, the Welfare Department of Riga Municipality organizes cigun, fitness, street gymnastics, yoga and Nordic walking classes that will take place in various neighborhoods of Riga. In turn, seniors are especially invited to participate in health-promoting hikes, as well as on September 21 to go for a walk with a guide on the route ''Green Ilgiuciems''.
Each activity has a limited number of participants, so we invite you to choose the most suitable class, venue and time in advance, as well as to apply for participation. Pre-registration in all classes is mandatory.
During the European Mobility Week, the European Social Fund Plus project ‘We About Healthy Riga!’ also offers a wide range of health-enhancing activities to citizens free of charge. They are suitable for people of different ages and levels of physical fitness. Activities will take place in different neighbourhoods of Riga.

- Fitness classes with dance elements on both the left and right bank of the Daugava River. Participation is open to people aged 16 and over. More information here.

Special classes are also organized for seniors. We invite seniors from the age of 55 to be active and participate in a health-enhancing hike on the route Riga - Jelgava - Olaine - Riga. Applying for the hike is here. If you have any questions, please write an e-mail to info@gribubut.lv.
On 21 September at 10:00 in Iļģuciems, Slokas Street 52B, a "Healthy Older Walk" will take place, during which a warm-up with a physiotherapist and a guided walk along the "Green Ilģuciems" route will take place. A walk of about 1.5-2 hours will be a great opportunity to combine physical activity and emotional well-being, meet like-minded people and get to know the surroundings of Iļģuciems. Riga City Council calls on Rigans to take care of their health! As part of the European Mobility Week, the Welfare Department offers an extensive free physical activity programme to promote healthy and active lifestyles for different groups of the population. The Department also invites Rigans to be active throughout the year and to get acquainted with its free health promotion and prevention activities on the website www.veseligsridzinieks.lv.
