The Riga National Municipal Family Support Register (hereinafter - Register) is a database in which data regarding the place of residence in the municipality of Riga is compiled for declared and registered families with children in the Register, who have rights to the facilities specified by the municipality of Riga. The families of Riga municipality registered in the register may receive the following support:
1. Exemption from co-financing fees for the acquisition of vocational orientation education programmes in local government educational institutions.
2. Exemption from co-financing fees in interest education programmes in the educational institutions of the municipality of Riga.
3. Paid catering for students who acquire a pre-school education programme licensed in accordance with the procedures specified in regulatory enactments in the private education institutions in the administrative territory of Riga.
4. Fare benefits in public transport in Riga State are 100% of the price of the monthly subscription ticket for both family parents with six or more children; 60% of the price of the monthly subscription ticket for both family parents with three to five children in their family. In order to receive the fare benefits, it is necessary to refer to the customer service centres of the “Riga Traffic” Ltd.

Process description

  1. Service requests
    A parent or person who markets child care may register in the Register:
    1. by using an e-service to individuals on the Riga municipal services portal www.eriga.lv, available under the “Registration in the Family Aid Register” section;
    2. by appealing in person to the Riga City residents centre or the Riga Social Service, presenting a personal identification document and signing the consent for the inclusion of personal data of their and their minor children in the Register, if necessary, by presenting the original documents attesting the conformity of the family with the criteria of the Register (for example, the person who has reached age by 24 years) for the age, a statement from an institution of higher education, a decision of another local government Orphan's Court regarding the care of a child outside the family).

  2. Receipt of services
    Upon receipt of an application for registration of a family in the Register, the person shall receive a confirmation regarding the registration of the family in the Register or information regarding the need to submit additional documents. The examination of documents and the inclusion of family data in the Register may take 10 working days.
