On Thursday, July 9, a forum dedicated to evening and night-time topics and industries will take place in the Straume Hall of the Splendid Palace cinema, gathering a wide range of private, public and non-governmental sector representatives from Latvia and abroad.

For the third time, the forum will bring together representatives of various sectors of business, research, society, environment, security, governance, etc. to highlight developments, problems and opportunities related to evenings and nights, their development and quality of management.

For the first time, the evening and night forum will be international, and part of the programme will be presentations of the European URBACT project "2Nite". The project is dedicated to promoting residents' sense of security in neighbourhoods by involving the public. The project partners from Italy, Spain, Portugal and Romania will share their experiences and activities, as well as a Riga story about the project pilot area - the Purvciems neighbourhood.

The forum will also feature a presentation from the night-time planning and research organisation VibeLab, which will introduce the latest developments in the world, as well as a report on the results of another European-level URBACT project, “Cities after Dark”. The forum programme will be complemented by stories of experience from Riga and Latvia, dedicated to social, environmental and cultural issues in the evenings and at night.

The forum is organized by the Central Administration of the Riga Municipality in cooperation with the Riga Neighborhood Residents' Center. The forum is co-financed from the URBACT IV program Innovation Transfer Network project "2Nite" funds. At the end of the forum, participants will be offered the opportunity to go on one of the explanatory walks.

The forum is open for applications until July 5th by filling in the form here.

Forum language: Latvian and English (translation will be provided).
