Lielā talka

For the 16th time, Riga City Council, in cooperation with the movement “Lielā talka”, invites residents to clean up their neighbourhoods.

“Lielā talka” 2023 will take place on 22 April, and residents are invited to register their choice of clean-up locations in Riga on the website www.talkas.lv or contact the Riga City Council “Lielā talka” coordinators by 17 April (included).

If a clean-up site is registered in www.talkas.lv, one of the Riga City Council “Lielā talka” coordinators will contact the responsible persons and coordinate the location of the area to be cleaned, specify the ownership of the property, the expected amount and type of waste, as well as specify the location where to temporarily place the collected waste so that the waste collectors can easily and quickly remove it.

Cleaners should place the collected waste in the provided bags, as only the collection of bags will be organised during "Lielā talka".

The bags will be available free of charge on 22 April at the approved clean-up location, at the clean-up responsible, or at 31 Daugavpils Street, Riga, by calling the Riga City Council “Lielā talka” coordinators according to the territorial division, at the following times:

  • 4 April 2023, 05 April 2023 from 8:00 to 19:00
  • 11 April 2023, 13 April 2023 from 8:00 to 19:00
  • 17 April 2023 from 8:30 to 19:00
  • 18 April 2023 to 21 April 2023 from 8:00 to 19:00

Clean-up participants should note that Riga City Council will organise waste collection only for clean-up locations where municipal territories are cleaned. By registering your location in advance and receiving confirmation, it will be possible to arrange timely waste collection. If the territory of private property or the territory adjacent to private property is being cleaned, the owner/manager/supervisor of the territory is responsible for organising waste collection.

After 17 April, you will not be able to register for a new clean-up location, but you will be able to register with the clean-up officers at the already approved locations.
