Jānis Lange, Executive Director of the City of Riga, is elected Regional Vice President of the International City and County Management Association (ICMA). This makes him one of the 21 members of the ICMA Board, one of the highest professional achievements in local governance globally.
This election is a significant career achievement and a vote of confidence from colleagues working in local governments around the world. ICMA Board members are responsible for the organisation’s strategic decisions and for implementing its mission to promote excellence in local governance and sustainable community development.
The ICMA Board meets in person four times a year, while the Vice Presidents regularly participate in membership meetings and virtual working sessions. Jānis Lange will officially take office at the end of October 2025 in Tampa, Florida, in conjunction with the ICMA Annual Conference, and will serve a three-year term (2025-2028).
