From November 24, it is forbidden for people to be on the ice-covered water bodies and coastal waters in the administrative territory of Riga.
Given the current weather conditions and meteorological forecasts, it is possible that an insufficiently resistant layer of ice could form on the water bodies in the administrative territory of Riga and that being on it could be dangerous.
The period of increased danger on the ice of Riga's water bodies shall be determined by the Executive Director of Riga City Council. The Municipal Police shall control the enforcement of this Order.
Liability for being on ice is laid down in the Administrative Penalties Act for offences in the field of administration, public order and the use of the national language. Violations are punishable by a warning or a fine of up to €100.
