Covid-19 City and Community Health
Jūlijā pamatprincipi paliek nemainīgi

The previously established epidemiological safety measures have allowed to keep the prevalence of Covid-19 in Latvia at a relatively low level; therefore the government has decided to partially reduce certain measures restricting the spread of Covid-19 from 1st of July, taking into account that as a result of epidemiological safety measures, the incidence of Covid-19 in Latvia is relatively low. The spread of the infection will continue to be monitored and restrictions will be renewed if the situation worsens.

Riga Municipality calls on all residents to continue strictly stick to the health safety measures - careful hand hygiene, physical distance and thoughtful actions, both in public places and in everyday life, in order to prevent a recurrence of the coronavirus Covid-19. It is very important for everyone to assess the risks and be able to take responsibility for their own health and the health of others. The basic principles are the same - wherever possible, follow a distance of 2 meters, wash your hands, stay home if you feel sick and follow the information signs, such as in public places, as well as follow the instructions of the particular service provider or event organizer.

From 1st of July, the use of mouth and nose mask on public transport will no longer be mandatory, but recommended, especially if there are a lot of people in the transport. In places where there is a high flow of people and crowding, covering the mouth and nose is recommended. It is mandatory to use a mouth and nose mask when traveling by public transport to a place of self-isolation after returning from abroad. The use of a mouth and nose mask must be mandatory if requested by private or public service providers and event organizers.
On 1st of July, the restrictions on gathering will also change and until 31st of July, no more than 100 people can gather in rooms up to 1000 m2, but 500 in larger rooms. No more than 1000 people can gather outside. The Regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers envisages that as of 1st of August even 3,000 people will be allowed to gather outside, provided that the epidemiological situation in the country does not deteriorate.

In order to expand testing and detect possible outbreaks as soon as possible, everyone has the opportunity to take a state-funded Covid-19 test on weekdays from 8.00 to 20.00, Saturdays from 9.00 to 15.00 and Sundays from 9.00 to 12.00, by prior appointment by phone 8303. You can come to the test point by private transport, on foot or by bicycle.
From 1st of July, there will be no time limit for outdoor sports events. However, the working time limit for gyms, fitness clubs and similar enterprises, starting no earlier than 6.30 in the morning and working no later than 24.00 at night, remains in force.
The restriction to provide at least 4 m2 per public visitor in public catering places has also been reduced. From 1st of July, restaurants and cafés must provide 3 m2 of space per visitor.
With regard to travel, the Ministry of Health continues to call for a careful assessment of its necessity. It must be considered that abroad there is not only a higher risk of becoming infected with Covid-19, but also possible quarantine, which will have to be observed in the country where you will be located at that time.

All the conditions that must be observed by both entrepreneurs and every inhabitant of Latvia can be found on the website www.covid19.gov.lv.
