Riga municipality, during the month, from October 24 to November 22, will offer residents the opportunity to hand over the collected leaves of trees and shrubs to 33 delivery points free of charge. Acceptance of pages will mainly take place on weekends, but individual points will also work on weekdays.
The Riga municipality has determined specific places and times for the transfer of the pages. The number of handover points and most locations have remained unchanged compared to last year.
This year, the changes affect one of the points used last year in Ziepniekkalns – on the parallel street of Vienības gatve between Vienības gatve 120 and 116. This place will not be used for handing over the leaves this year, because it had relatively little activity of the population and it was difficult to park cars for unloading the leaves.
Unlike the other handover points, in Torņakalns, Uzvaras Boulevard 16A, it will also be possible to hand over the pages on weekdays. The point will be open from 9:00 a.m. 9.00 to 19.00 on the following dates:
- 26-30 October;
- 2-6 November;
- 9 - 13 November;
- 16, 17, 19 and 20 November.
Information on page delivery points is available on the municipal website www.riga.lv/lv/rudenslapas.
The procedure for handing over pages remains unchanged compared to previous years:
- the pages will not be allowed to arrive in advance and leave outside the opening hours of the designated page drop-off point;
- leaves will not be able to be placed in bags, they will have to be disposed of in placed containers or specialised waste removal transport units;
- the leaves will not contain impurities from other types of waste;
- empty bags will have to be taken with each resident after discharge;
End-of-life household appliances, furniture or debris, or leaves mixed with household waste, will not be allowed to be carried to leaf delivery points.
On each of the days of the leaf collection project, representatives of the Maintenance Board of the Department of Outdoors and Mobility (APM) will participate, keeping track of the situation, coordinating the handover of the leaves, controlling the progress of specialized waste collection transport, as well as helping older citizens to empty the leaves from their bags as much as possible.
The Riga Municipal Police will step up patrols at leaf drop-off points to prevent or limit the release of unauthorized waste – leaves.
Rigans are using the autumn leaf delivery option more and more actively. In 2025, 4,163 tonnes of autumn leaves were transferred to Riga, 862 tonnes more than in 2024, when 3,301 tonnes were transferred. In 2023, 2 769 tonnes of leaves were transferred.
In case of uncertainty, please call the Riga municipality's free information line 1201 and the question will be directed to the municipal structural unit responsible for the page transfer project.
