Persons with visual, movement and mental impairment may receive an assistant to perform activities outside the dwelling which, due to their disability, cannot perform independently - to the place where they are studying, working, receiving services. If a disabled child grows in a family, a number of forms of support directly related to parental employment are envisaged until the age of 18.

Process description

  1. Service requests
    In a short-term social care and social rehabilitation institution, the service includes a set of social care and rehabilitation measures (e.g. social care, monitoring, catering, physical activity, self-care and social skills development, meaningful leisure).
    In order to receive the services of the support family and trusted person, the person or his or her lawful representative shall submit the documents to the Riga Social Service in accordance with Cabinet Regulation No. 138, Regulations regarding the Receiving of Social Services and Social Assistance.
    If a family receives a social work service association “Latvian SOS Children's Villages Association”, it shall submit an application to the association “Latvian SOS Children's Villages Association”.
    Documents can also be submitted to the Social Service of Riga via secure electronic normal or by mail.
