Psychological support services shall provide professional psychological, social work professionals and other specialists with the aim of stabilising the psychoemotional situation of the client, improving/developing certain skills, capacity, providing the necessary psychological support and direction for addressing personal problems and promoting contact, improving and strengthening mutual relations within and outside the family.

Process description

  1. Service requests
    In order to receive a psychological support service, a person or his or her lawful representative shall submit documents to the Social Service of Riga in accordance with the Cabinet Regulation No. 138, Regulations regarding the Receiving of Social Services and Social Assistance.
    If a family receives a social work service association “Latvian SOS Children's Villages Association”, it shall submit an application to the association “Latvian SOS Children's Villages Association”.
    Documents can also be submitted to the Social Service of Riga via secure electronic normal or by mail.

  2. Receipt of services
    After receiving all the documents, a decision regarding the granting/refusal of social service is taken within 22 working days.
    The social service applicant shall be informed of the decision taken.
    A person receives a psychological support service from a service provider sent by the Riga Social Service.
