Get a service

Care at home provides support for the care of a child with disabilities (e.g. food, food preparation, dressing, positioning, body hygiene and care for appearance, medication use), monitoring, self-care capacity development and meaningful leisure.

1. In a nursing home in the form of material support, the aim is to ensure that the basic needs of the child are met, help in carrying out housework and personal care.
Tangible aid of EUR 56,91 per month may be received if the funds at the disposal of the family do not exceed EUR 500,00 for each person living in the household. Payment shall be made to a family-selected care home provider (material support in the account is received by a carer). Family income will be assessed to qualify for the aid.
2. In a nursing home in the form of a service, the aim is to ensure that the basic needs of a child are met, help in carrying out housework and personal care. Care at home is granted without assessing family income, and it is provided by the service provider with which the municipality has entered into a contract, up to 35 hours a week in conformity with the assessment of family needs performed by the Riga Social Service and the plan developed - meeting basic needs, personal care, assistance in the performance of housework. Family income is not valued.

Process description

  1. Service requests
    A social services person or his or her lawful representative shall request from the Social Service of Riga.
    In order to receive a social service, a person or his or her lawful representative shall present a personal identification document and submit to the Social Service of Riga:
    1. An application specifying the problem and its preferred solution;
    2. A statement of the state of health of the family doctor stating the nature (s) of the functional disorders and
    signs of acute infection (if any);
    3. The opinion of a psychiatrist regarding the psychological health of a child and the special (psychiatric) contraindications for the receipt of a service, if a child with mental disabilities wishes to receive the service.
    4. Documents attesting the conformity of the child with the destination group for the receipt of the service (family doctor
    an statement that a child is required to draw up AN opinion OF THE VDEATH regarding the need for special care, if one has not been settled, or an extract from a family doctor or psychiatrist regarding the need to determine the disability if the disability has not been settled). Other documents, if any, necessary for the adoption of the decision;
    5. Other documents, if they are necessary for taking a decision on the granting of an appropriate social service.

    Following the decision of the Riga Social Service regarding the granting of a social care service in the person's place of residence, the person receives social care services in his or her place of residence.
