A lump-sum allowance for the birth of a child is granted to provide material support for the needs of a newborn child.
A child birth allowance may be received from a local government in which the person has been declared for at least a specified period of time and if the relevant local government has adopted binding rules on the granting of such a benefit. The amount of the allowance and the conditions for receipt shall be determined by each local government in its binding rules.

Process description

  1. Service requests
    Riga Social Service grants material support to the family due to the birth of a child. A lump-sum allowance for a family due to the birth of a child is granted to provide material support to the needs of a newborn. The lump-sum allowance shall be EUR 150.00.
    The payment of benefits is administered by Riga Social Service.
    The requester of the allowance shall refer to the Dietles section of the city of Riga and register the birth of the child, present a personal identification document and a statement of the medical treatment institution attesting the fact of the birth of the child, and request the granting of the allowance.
    1. If the birth of a child has been registered in another city or parish of Latvia, the requester of the allowance shall turn to the Social Service, presenting a personal identification document and the birth certificate of the child (the guardians shall present the original of the decision of the Orphan's Court of Riga regarding the establishment of guardianship).
    2. If the newborn parent is an orphan and lives in another city or parish of Latvia, which has been specified in the decision of the Orphan's Court of Riga for out-of-family care, and with the decision of the Housing and Environment Department of the Riga City Council, has been included in the aid register for solving the issue of the apartment, the requester of the allowance shall refer to a personal identification document in the Social Service. birth certificate, original of the decision of the Orphan's Court of Riga regarding out-of-family care and Riga

    3. If the birth of a child has been registered abroad and a document attesting to the fact that the child was born
