Acceptance of the application for the change of nationality

Process description

1. Service requests
   A person may turn to face-to-face after a previous recording in any division of the correspondence in order to submit an application for a change of nationality record.
   Receipt of services documents required:
   1) a submission specifying the reason for the change of the nationality record;
   2) a personal identification document;
   3) a birth certificate or a statement regarding the registration of birth or a copy of the entry of the birth register, which proves the person's kinship with the immediate relatives of the bottom-up, and documents confirming the nationality of such persons;
   4) written consent of the parents of a minor to change the nationality record or, if the minor person is in custody, the written consent of the guardian and the decision of the Orphan's Court regarding the conformity of the change of nationality record with the interests of the minor;
   5) an opinion regarding the ethnic origin of the person specified by the Cabinet of Ministers, if the person wishes to change the current nationality record against the nationality record 'Libitis (Liv)' and it is not possible to prove the ethnic origin with the documents;
   6) an educational document or other document which certifies the proficiency of the official language of a person corresponding to the higher (third) degree, but in cases where a person is a group 1 disabled person who has a disability granted without a time limit, a group 2 or 3 visual, hearing or speech disabled or is older than 75 years - an educational document or another document that certifies the average document the proficiency of the official language of the person corresponding to the (second) degree, if the person wishes to change the current nationality record against the nationality record 'Latvian';
   7) document certifying payment of the State fee

2. A service charge
   In accordance with Section 9, Paragraph one of the Law on changing the name, surname and nationality record, the State fee for changing the name, surname or nationality record shall be EUR 71. Payment is made before the service is received
   A person who wishes to change his or her current nationality record against the “Libian (Liv)” nationality record shall be exempted from the State fee.
   You can pay the national fee in person with Master Card, ALL, ALL Electron, Maestro billing cards. It is impossible to make a payment in cash and with American Express credit cards.
   The payment of the State fee may be credited to the settlement account of the municipality of Riga.

3. Receipt of services
   The Department of Justice Dzimtsaraksts of the Ministry of Justice shall send a decision regarding the change of the nationality record by post to the person.
