Riga Porcelain Museum in October 2026 from Tuesday to Saturday at 9:00 a.m. 11.00-18.00 visitors are invited to the educational lesson "Dekols".
October in the creative workshop of the Riga Porcelain Museum is dedicated to getting to know one of the most popular porcelain decorating techniques today – décolleté. A practical lesson is offered, where anyone interested will be able to try their hand at decollation by creating their own, unique décolleté compositions on glazed porcelain products. The museum's workshop offers décolleté leaves with a ready-made design – ornaments, animal and plant images, as well as colorful décolleté sheets, from which you can cut your own shapes and silhouettes and create unique compositions on dishes.
Decols are ‘retractable pictures’ of a ceramic colour fixed on the container by firing the product in an oven at a temperature of between 600 °C and 800 °C. After firing, the dishes can be safely used on a daily basis, the decor is durable. The finished item will be available at the museum within two weeks after the lesson. During the workshop, you will be able to learn the basics of porcelain decoration and composition creation, gain new knowledge about various decoration techniques and try them out in practice.
The museum invites visitors – both individually and together with relatives, friends or colleagues – to try their hand at porcelain art by choosing a simpler or more complex decorating technique!
Families with children from 7 years of age, young people, seniors, as well as people with reduced mobility are especially invited to participate in the workshop. The workshop will be led by museum educators Vita Lukstiņa and Astra Ratkeviča.
The cost of participation in the workshop is 5,50 EUR – 19,10 EUR depending on the value of the item chosen for decoration.
