In order to be able to buy travel tickets for public transport with a discount also in the future, “Rīgas satiksme” invites students who continue their studies in one of the higher education establishments of Riga to extend the validity of the student’s status in their e-tickets. 

Student’s status in the e-ticket is granted until the date of expiry of the student ID card, therefore by extending the student ID card, the date of expiry of the student’s status in the e-ticket must also be extended. 

Student’s status may be extended in two ways: 
  • by submitting an application to extend the status of the discount recipient in the information system of the higher education establishment (for instance, University of Latvia, Riga Technical University, Turība University, BA School of Business and Finance, Riga Stradiņš University, Transport and Telecommunication Institute, Latvian Academy of Culture, J.Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, Art Academy of Latvia, Red Cross Medical Colledge of Riga Stradiņš University). After receipt of the confirmation, the student must go to one of the e-ticket vending machines and activate his student’s status; 
  • by submitting an application to any of the five customer service centres of “Rīgas satiksme”. Visiting a customer service centre, the student must take with him a personal identification document, a valid student ID card or a reference from the education establishment (electronically signed references must be sent to sekretariats@rigassatiksme.lv, specifying the address of the customer service centre where you will go to formalize the discount).

To avoid waiting in the queue, we encourage you to apply for a visit to a customer service centre electronically.
