Igaunijas kolēģi viesojas Īpašuma departamenta restaurācijas darbnīcā

Last week, the representatives from the Estonian Ministry of Culture, the National Heritage Board, the Environment Agency, the Estonian Academy of Arts and other bodies visited the restoration workshop of the Building Maintenance Administration of the Property Department at 12 Krāsotāju Street.

During the meeting, the staff of the Administration shared the experience of the Riga City Council in the restoration of historic buildings, highlighting the co-financing mechanisms and also the role of the workshop in transferring practical knowledge and involving the public.

The guests were very interested to see how the workshop works and expressed their appreciation for the work done. In her letter of thanks, Kadri Kallast, Project Manager of LIFE heritageHOME at the Estonian Ministry of Culture, says: “We were very impressed and inspired by the centre and your programme. We are currently preparing a new project application to inspire Estonian municipalities to set up similar centres - if the project proposal is successful, we may be able to organise a study visit to Wooden Riga to show how it is done."

We also are inspired by this recognition and look at our work from a new perspective, proving that the experience and initiatives we have gained can serve as a basis for international cooperation and positive change in the conservation of cultural heritage, indicates the Building Maintenance Administration.
