The Centre performs the following tasks:
- Considers applications (complaints) of individuals and companies on non-performance or undue performance of duties by Directors and officials of the municipal institutions (hereinafter – the employees), when:
- Information and arguments on possible bureaucracy or corruption in the municipal institution are provided in the application (complaint); - The application (complaint) is not to be considered and a resolution is not to be adopted in conformity with the Administrative Procedure Law;
- Takes measures to reduce the risk of corruption and to combat corruption;
- Performs checks of the municipal institutions to establish deficiencies in their management, non-performance or undue performance of duties by their employees, as well as the features of corruption;
- Within the framework of its competency, communicates with state institutions, including law enforcement bodies, non-governmental organisations and mass media;
- Submits proposals to the Riga City Council Chairman on improvement of operation of municipal institutions and elimination of the established deficiencies;
- Prepares and submits to the Riga City Council Chairman reports on the operational results;
Prepares draft legal documents for the Riga City Council which are in the Centre’s competency;
- At the task of the Riga City Council Chairman, in conformity with the Centre’s competency, prepares draft replies to the applications and complaints of individuals and companies;
- Performs other orders of the Riga City Council Chairman.
