Tales and Stories
There is much to be told about Riga. About its towers and cellars, parks and waters, its suburbs and courtyards. About architectural masterpieces and about everyday bustle in the Central Market. Almost every place has its own story. For example, the streets – Cūku (Swine), Miesnieku (Butcher), Skārņu (Butcher’s shop) Streets – they all have the beginning and the end. And the central street – Brīvības Street, named after the Russian tsar Alexander II, Lenin, and once even named after Hitler – all this makes the story about Latvia. And also almost every citizen of Riga has his/her own story to be told. Riga will never be ready, and likewise the stories about it will never cease.
